Meeting Minutes

Salaam Dear Parents,

On Sunday August 19th, the AlManar School invited you to a meeting to discuss new policies at the school, to address any concerns anyone has and to see whether you were in favor in starting a parents' committee whose mission is to help the school out when and where needed.

The following points and questions were brought up by the participating parents:

1-Some parents need help with the Arabic homework assignments.
2-How to cater to all students: those who know many Surats and those who don't?  Those who are moving along well in Arabic and those who are not.
3-There is a positive environment at the school.  Students like to come to the school.
4-Have more school wide fun activities such as the Hajj and the end of year celebration.
5-Have the school be better prepared to handle safety issues especially at dismissal time.
6-Have the parents be responsible for providing the snack to their own children following guidelines to be specified by the school.
7-Send out monthly lesson plans, monthly newsletters  and weekly homework sheets to parents so that they can follow up on what's happening in the school in general and in their child's classroom in particular.
8-Have a parents' committee to help with some of special events at the school, fundraising, recess times and other needs the school may have. 

Thank you very much for all the parents who participated.  We greatly appreciate your candidness, positive attitude and support.  We will see you in two months to follow up on the above points.
