LEVEL 1

Level 1 Curriculum - Outline of what students will be taught during the school year:

Arabic Studies

  • Students will learn one letter from the Arabic alphabet every two weeks (the letter will be presented in project form with the short sounds).
  • Students will be taught Arabic conversation to strengthen their vocabulary.
  • Students will be taught basic math in Arabic.
  • Students will go into greater depth about shapes, numbers (1-20) and colors in Arabic.
  • Every month the class will focus and go into greater detail on a theme which will expose the students to vocabulary used in their daily lives (e.g. the four seasons, the home, family, etc.).

Islamic Studies

  • Students will learn one Prophet story each week.
  • Every week, students will be given a lesson in Islam (either Tawheed, Seerah of Rasuluallah , Manners, Fiqeh or Ebadat).
  • Students will be introduced to the basics of Islamic prayers such as prayer time, prayer name and the number of Rak'ahs.
  • Students will be taught Hadeeth shareef (what the Prophet said) once a month.
  • Every month, students will also learn one dua'a.

Quranic Studies

  • Students will memorize one short surah from Juz-Aama every month.

Pre-Requisites for Level 1- Outline of what students should know in order to enroll in this class:

  • Students should have successfully completed Prep 1 at the Almanar Modern School or have passed the appropriate Assessment Exam.

Arabic Studies

  • Students should be familiar with the Arabic alphabet and their respective sounds.

Islamic Studies

  • Students should know basic Islamic concepts such as the creator, five Pillars of Islam and general information about the Prophets.

Quranic Studies

  • Students should be able to recite at least one to two short surah's such as Al- Fatiha or Al-Ikhlas.
