Dear Readers Assalam-o-Alaikum,

The latest issue of MCC Voice for May-June 2010 is posted at the MCC Web site at http://www.gsdmcc.org/uploads/files/127.pdf

In this month's MCC Voice, you will find a detailed updated from the MCC Foundation on the construction of the new center in Santa Luz.  We currently need to raise an additional $250,000 to meet our financial commitment.  Everyone is encouraged to visit the construction site and donate generously to the cause.  We have already had a couple of Potlucks and a General Body Meeting plus elections at the new facility.

As a result of the elections, we have a new Board in place.  We welcome Kasim Mahmood, Tasnim Rehmani, and Zeena Cuevas as new MCC Operations Board members who replace the outgoing board members: Safi Khan, Ghani Kothawala, and Hasan Yusuf.  Safi, Ghani, and Yusuf’s services to the MCC BOD are much  appreciated. The details of the new portfolio assignments and the new Chairman’s Message figure prominently in this issue of the Voice.    

As most of you , MCC has been looking for a Center Director and a Deputy Religious Director for some. On Sunday June 13th Between Asr and  Maghrib, please join us at the new MCC facility in Santa Luz to Meet & Greet with the candidates for above positions. This program is open to everybody.  In accordance with MCC’s culture of transparency and Open communications, The Community will be provided with feedback forms to give their opinion on the candidates, and the MCC BOD will take the Community’s feedback into account before making any final hiring decisions.

We have 2 featured articles in this month's issue. Wrapped up in Style discusses the fusion of Hijab and Islamic dresses with the contemporary fashion and  practical dresses that balance religious sensitivity with fashion sense.  The “101 Reasons of Why I am Glad wear Hijab”by Mona Ebrahim maybe a book we should look forward to reading!  The incident of splitting of the Moon by our very own Dr Khisal Alvi discusses one of the well known miracles of the prophet Muhammed (SAW).    The article discusses various ahadith and tafsirs, plus accounts form various sahaba (RA) pertaining to this miracle.
